In keeping with its reputation as a Thai hotel chain and its
well-embedded philosophy, Dusit, the Thai way of life, the Dusit Thani Plc
is pleased to announce the launch of "Thai Way of Life, the Dusit
Cookbook" as part of its mission to promote
Thailand to the world.
The name Dusit is synonymous with the best that Thailand has to
offer in terms of hospitality: the Dusit, D2 and Royal Princess hotels and
resorts brands, the Thai way of life philosophy incorporating the Thai wai,
charm and warm service of the staff, training at the Dusit Thani College
offering degree courses in food and hotel management, the healthy lifestyle
with Thai herbs at Devarana Spa - and now, Thai cuisine.
The Dusit Cookbook conveys the Dusit Thai way of life philosophy through
the recipes of the Thai chefs from all the Thai restaurants under the Dusit
and Princess group of hotels. The book explains to readers the traditions
and techniques of Thai cooking, as well as the influence of the different
regions of the country on today’s Thai cuisine.
As the oldest Thai hotel chain and the first Thai hotel to have a
presence overseas, Dusit elevated local hotel standards to international
status, pioneering the appreciation of Thai hospitality that is today
recognized throughout the world. At home, Dusit has become an icon of the
Thai hospitality industry.
Thanpuying Chanut Piyoui, Dusit's founder, once said in an interview when
she opened her first hotel, The Princess, in 1949, "I wanted a hotel that
would be like the ones I'd admired in the USA, but it would have to be
specifically Thai".
"It would be a place where visitors from abroad would experience a truly
Thai welcome in a Thai environment, but with modern amenities in the heart
of Bangkok," she envisioned. Twenty-one years later, she opened her flagship
hotel,
The Dusit Thani, Bangkok, which recently celebrated its 36th anniversary
on 27th February 2006.
Now 60 years later in the hotel business, Thanpuying Chanut's mission to
promote Thailand to the world still holds true until today. Even so that her
son, Chanin Donavanik, Executive Director, picks up the thread to ensure
that his mother's vision is strongly upheld and carried out at all Dusit, D2
and Royal Princess hotels and resorts locally and internationally.
"This Cookbook was created not only to promote Thailand and all that
Dusit believes in and stands for, but it is also as a tribute to my mother,
in honor of her long-standing mission to promote the beauty and warmth of
Thai hospitality to the world, which is what the Thai people are known for,"
said Mr Chanin.
