A remarkable 1,000,000 baht (US$25,000) per head gala dinner will form an
unprecedented extravagant grand finale for ‘Epicurean Masters of the World’, a
gourmet food and wine extravaganza to be held at Bangkok’s award-winning rooftop
dining destination, The Dome at State Tower, from November 28th to December 2nd,
2006.
After a successful launch event last November, the second Epicurean Masters
of the World this year sees seven Chefs de cuisine of Michelin Three-Star
restaurants including the world’s first female to achieve the revered culinary
distinction, congregate under one roof over the course of 5 days, to create a
culinary extravaganza never before seen in Thailand and rarely experienced
anywhere in the world.
Epicurean Masters of the World II will take place throughout all the
restaurants of the unique Dome at State Tower, which include the stunning al
fresco Sirocco, the casually elegant Distil, and the grand Italian restaurant
Mezzaluna, which are located at the top of Bangkok’s State Tower, the largest
building in Asia and the tallest in Bangkok, and thus command stunning views.
Two new restaurants, Breeze and Café Mozu will also host the event. The two
restaurants are part of the new
lebua
boutique hotel which is also located in The State Tower and managed by
Challenge Hospitality which runs the restaurants at The Dome.
The culinary schedule for this year’s event will include menus individually
designed and prepared by the world’s finest chefs and wine paired by world
renowned wine merchants Berry Bros & Rudd of London, England.
The array of Michelin Three-Star culinary talent will include Chef Antoine
Westermann of Buerehisel, Alsace, France; Chef Jean Michel Lorain – La Cote
Saint Jacques, Joigny, France; Chef Marc Meneau – L’Esperance, Vezelay, France;
Chef Luisa Valazza – Al Sorriso, Piedmont, Italy; Chef Heinz Beck – La Pergola,
Rome, Italy; and Chef Annie Feolde - Enoteca Pinchiorri, Florence, Italy, the
first Female chef ever to receive the coveted three Michelin Star rating for her
restaurant.
The focus this year will be on introducing the rarest wine of the world
paired with the finest food, bringing the art of fine dining to new heights. The
wine, some of which is reputed to be the world’s greatest, will hail from the
renowned estates of Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Mouton Rothschild,
Chateau Latour, Chateau Haut Bailly, Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and Chateau
D’Yquem alongside the infamous whites of Burgundy from Joseph Drouhin and Louis
Jadot.
The uniquely extravagant Gala Dinner for this year’s event will be held at
Mezzaluna on December 2nd and is priced at 1,000,000++THB (US$ 25,000++) per
person. As well as featuring remarkable food from the world’s finest chefs
paired with equally remarkable wines, the price will include overnight suite
accommodation at the lebua at State Tower hotel; a personalized designer jewelry
gift; a collection of personalised Riedel sommelier glasses; and a signed
commemorative Limoges plate from the event.
Pricing for the rest of the lunches and dinners throughout the event begin
from a somewhat more modest 8,900++ THB (US$200) per person.
