Phuket International Airport imposed tough security measures
to prevent any criminal acts.

Following
the International Civil Aviation Organization or ICAO safety measures which
are the highest standard for civil aviation, the Phuket International
Airport raised its security to no. 3 which is orange code. Chief of the
airport’s Security Section Narong Julsawk explained that 3 zones are
designated. They are the zone outside the airport which is under the
responsibility of Thalang District Chief, where 2 check points have been set
up on the road leading to the airport while another point is located behind
the airport’s fire station. The second zone is the middle ring from the
airport’s fence down to the terminal with navy officers standing by. The
inner zone is the terminal and landing area, x-ray machine, hand scanners
and where walk through machines are stationed. He emphasized that navy
officers and the airport security personnel are also on patrol 24 hours. The
airport also keeps reminding passengers not to leave their belongings
unattended for smooth operations he said. |
