Dash Of Excitement At Banyan Tree Bangkok's 8th Vertical Marathon

 In
a burst of footsteps, fitness enthusiasts, charity supporters and members of
the public will be returning to
Banyan
Tree Bangkok on Sunday, 10 September 2006 for the 8th Vertical Marathon.
The long-running challenge is an annual affair eagerly anticipated by its
fans. The finishing point is at the hotel's former helicopter pad, now
converted to award-winning Vertigo restaurant on the 61st floor, one of the
highest al fresco hotel restaurant in Asia.
An Elevated Course
Running up 1,093 steps is a fun and exciting challenge for participants of
all ages. To date, the fastest time achieved is 6 minutes and 29 seconds by
Thai national, Khun Boonchoo Jandacha.
Previous participants include the Chairman of Caring Hearts for Aids
Foundation, Khun Saisom Wongsasukul; and pop culture super stars, Mr.
Tannaton Palkawong Na Ayudhya, Ms. Satita Ketanon, and Mr. Somchai Kaemkat.
In Aid of AIDS
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the "HIV Formula Feeding Fund", a
Thai Red Cross initiative under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess
Soamsawali. Last year, the event raised a total of 401,890 baht (US$10,576)
for the HIV Formula Feeding Fund, a charity that Banyan Tree Bangkok has
been supporting for over four years. The Fund aids vulnerable HIV patients,
especially children, who require extra care and support. |
