AKA Hotel Resort & Spa Hua Hin to open 1 April 2006
|
|
Hua Hin Map - Hua Hin is about 200 km south of Bangkok on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. |
|
|
Thai royalty have long used Hua Hin
as a retreat from the pressures of city life, recognizing its natural assets
of lakes, rice terraces, mountains and cool sea breezes. A royal palace was
first built there in 1911 and the connection has been strengthened in recent
years, as HM The King of Thailand has spent more and more time in the
charming seaside town. The resultant stream of VIP visitors has had knock-on
effects: there are now half a dozen
world-class golf courses within 20 minutes of Hua Hin. And yet, Hua Hin
has escaped the overdevelopment which has overtaken other popular
destinations.
The AKA Hotel Resort & Spa Hua Hin
which is scheduled to open 1 April
2006, builds on this continuous tradition of sanctuary and relaxation.
Privacy is fundamental to its philosophy. Every one of the 55 villa’s
features its own private 10-metre infinity pool, garden shower and outdoor
sunken bathtub. Every villa has its own private pavilion for spa treatments.
And every guest can enjoy private villa dining, putting themselves in the
gastronomic care of a French executive chef who will greet them and discuss
their choice of menu.
Signature cuisine is true Provençal. The Coustiero restaurant has a full
menu and an extensive wine list, while Asian fare and more casual alfresco
dining can be enjoyed at the Canal Café, AKA Deli or the Lake Bar.
Inspiration for the resort came from the background of one of its
founders, a fashion designer with a passion for natural materials. The
humble elegance of those styles has filtered through to create a Zen
Buddhist ambience, relying on wood and stone. This natural luxury is
enhanced by immaculate attention to detail.
Spa treatments – traditional massage, therapies and health treatments –
may be taken in the resort spa or in private open-air salas. The
revitalizing treatments are strongly influenced by traditional Thai
medicine, a holistic system which makes use of Thai herbs, fruits and exotic
scents to emphasize bodily harmony with nature. The effect is a soothing
refuge of rejuvenation.
Hua Hin is easily reached by road or rail from Bangkok. A
journey by private car from the Thai capital or its
international airport
takes roughly two hours.
