The Tourism Authority of Thailand office in
Seoul,
Korea is implementing a tourism strategy by encouraging the mass media in
Korea to shoot and make films and other media programs in
Thailand. This strategy
aims at promoting the positive image of Thailand as well as urging more
Korean tourists to visit the kingdom.
Recently, the TAT office in Seoul, Korea is sponsoring the Korean program
called “JVP Entertainment” which is being televised in SBC TV. The show has
come to Bangkok to film “The
Super Star Survival” and film a music video in
Pattaya. Earlier, the TAT office
in Seoul successfully supported two Korean films, namely “The Full House”
and “The Palace”.
“The Full House, starring Korean superstar “Rain”, was filmed in
Phuket, and right now,
the island has become one of the favorite honeymoon destinations for Korean
couples. Meanwhile, “The Palace” was filmed in Bangkok and
Hua Hin, and as a result, many
Korean travelers have become interested to visit both destinations in
Thailand.
The TAT office in Seoul has promoted filmmakers in Korea to choose the
destinations in Thailand to shoot their movies. The locations that have been
primarily promoted include the coastal areas of Thailand, as they are very
popular among the Koreans. This is one of the strategies to stimulate Korean
tourists to come over to our kingdom. The target markets would be the
honeymooners and family members. Moreover, Korean films are being
broadcasted in other countries apart from Korea such as
Japan,
China,
Taiwan,
and
Hong Kong. Clearly, this strategy would help raise the number of foreign
tourist arrivals in Thailand.
