This festive season, the
Blue Canyon Country Club is opening its doors and reaching out to the
hearts of the Tsunami survivors by organising Christmas parties specially
for them. This is a continuation of the country club’s efforts in providing
aid and welfare to the Phuket
community.
When
the devastating Tsunami first hit Phuket, Blue Canyon Country Club
immediately swung into action, transforming the club into a crisis relief
centre. Bed linen, food and medical supplies were provided to thousands of
stranded tourists and residents who lost their homes and families when the
tidal waves struck on December 26, 2004.
In addition to monetary contributions, Mr and Mrs Sia, owners of the Blue
Canyon Country Club, also helped reconstruct about 20 houses in the Nai Rai
village.
This season, the management and staff of Blue Canyon Country Club will
come together to host a series of social gatherings for the residents of
Phuket and to help the needy during this time of the year.
Child-Watch Party, 25th December, 2005 - Blue Canyon Country Club is
organising a Christmas party for children affected by the Tsunami. Blue
Canyon Country Club undertook supervision of Child-Watch, an organisation
that seeks to provide welfare and basic education for children who were
abused and abandoned by their parents. Blue Canyon Country Club will also
sponsor the monthly milk supply to ensure all children under the care of
Child-Watch receive the appropriate nutrition. The Country Club aims to
organise a party for these children on a quarterly basis.
26th December, 2005 – The Blue Canyon Country Club will join millions of
people around the world in this somber ceremony to remember the hundreds and
thousands of lives lost during the disaster. Prime Minister of Thailand,
Thaksin Shinawatra, and other world leaders will be present at the memorial.
Blue Canyon Country Club staff will be visiting a Child Care Centre in
Phang-nga in the next few weeks. Clothes, books, stationery and toys
collected by Blue Canyon Country Club staff will be distributed to the
children aged between 1 to 13 years old.
