Imagine
cruising the Gulf of Siam in the most traditional way – aboard the June
Bahtra – a traditional Siamese junk-rigged schooner that evokes an era of
seafaring and coastal discovery of days past.
Limited to just twenty passengers, the discovery cruise aboard the June
Bahtra sets sail from nearby Pathra Marina at 9:30 am., welcome drinks in
hand. As she slips past colourful traditional fishing boats and villages on
the Pranburi River, the schooner hoists her rigging and sails into to the
emerald waters of the Gulf of Siam.
Setting a course to Monkey Island, guests may see the dolphins of
Irrawaddy before coming ashore for the opportunity to play with the friendly
crab-eating Macaqaques. It is then time to set sail for Khao Sam Roi
National Park where the crystal waters are ideal for swimming. Guests may
choose to walk to the viewing point to take in the beautiful marine-scape
below, or do some soft trekking to the sacred cave of Tham Praya Nokhon to
view the Royal Sala.
Back on board the June Bahtra, its time to enjoy a bountiful lunch buffet
while at anchor in front of the park's 300 peaks, and afterwards, just sit
back and savour the coastal scenery and the romance of the open sea from the
vantage point aboard this unique sailing vessel en route to the marina.
