Our city Bangkok,
Thailand will host the 2005 Miss Universe Pageant, which marks the second
time that Thailand will host the international show. The first was in 1992.
 The
pageant will be held at IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center an
impressive arena just a little bit to ther north of Bangkok, with has the
capacity of 12,000 seats completed with multi-purpose facility designed to
host sporting and entertainment events as well as large-scale conferences
and rallies.
The show will broadcast in the US on NBC and Telemundo on Monday, May 30,
2005 at 9PM ET (May 31, 2005 9PM Thailand Local Time) and will be
distributed around the world to nearly a billion viewers.
But that does not mean you can not watch it in person. The Thailand
Tourism Authority expects 10,000 visitors to descend on Bangkok for the 2005
Miss Universe contest.
About the Miss Universe Pageant
 Miss
Universe started as a local "bathing beauty" competition spearheaded by
Catalina Swimwear in Long Beach, CA that then metamorphose into an
international annual tradition.
Delegates from not less than 125 countries join Miss Universe Pageant
this year. Today, Miss Universe has become a fixture of pop culture,
ingrained in the landscape of our minds.
In the 52-year history of the Miss Universe contest, two Thais have been
crowned Miss Universe: Miss Apasra Hongsakul in 1965 and Miss Pornthip
Nakhirankanok in 1988.
